Labour Weekend Camping/Get-together at the Braythwayte Abode in Rotorua

If the weather is kind to us (water table below grass level) there will be a camping ‘event’ running through to the Monday. Set up: Friday 24th Oct (after 4pm)

If the weather is unkind to us (grass below water level, sheep wearing their snorkels again) then there will still be a get-together to show/discuss our A&S projects and generally socialize. Anyone is still welcome to stay the weekend but sleeping arrangements will be first come – first served to beds, sofas, floor-space, grass.

What we have planned: … well, I say planned…. It is really just a bunch of ideas loosely thrown together at the moment.

· Stuff for young people… various fun games and activities (treasure hunt, piggy back tournament, castle building etc.) Other distractions for young ones include a trampoline, rope swing and a dog!
· A&S Activities… casting belt mounts and wax seals, playing with a pole lathe, blacksmithing, belt making, music, camp cooking, simple dancing for simple folk (like us!) and more
· Braythwayte breakfasts! …and a spit-roast on Saturday
· Archery… a fun competition on the Sunday (the target will not be circular… it may move)
· A respectable fire, hopefully with a wicker man sat atop (if anyone knows how to make a man out of sticks)
· Possible trip off-site on Sunday to ease those aching muscles and soak away the camp grime in some hot pools.
· Games.

Other good news:
· There will be the use of flush toilets with soft toilet paper and the use of showers (Please bring your own towels).
· We are at the north end of Lake Rotorua away from the smelly bit!

Costs:
· This is a free do.
· There is no such thing as a free lunch though so a donation towards the food bill would be appreciated. I’d suggest perhaps $10 for a day or $25 if you are staying the whole weekend. Halve that for children.
